Organic September – 2019

Going organic?

Something you have wanted to try.

Maybe now’s the time?

The Soil association:  a charity for farming and food have started Organic September a month-long campaign designed to encourage more people to try organic.

“Campaigning for more organic food and farming means that together, we can slow down climate change”

All organic food is fully traceable from farm to fork, so you can be sure of what you’re eating. ……….as organic must meet strict rules. Unlike non-organic food production, which makes wide use of manufactured and mined fertilisers and pesticides, organic food is produced with natural fertilisers from plants, less energy and more respect for the animals that provide it.”

“the need to produce healthy food, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and protect wildlife grows more acute by the year. There is no magic bullet to tackle the challenges that face us, but the buying decisions we make every day are

a simple but powerful form of direct action.”

Organic growing is the non-use of pesticides and synthetic fertiliser and using the ides that we should support the whole eco system. Something most of us do at home with our home grown veg fruit and plants. Every garden can on a small-scale provide food and habitats for local wildlife.  These small plots can help to do our bit for the organic cause.

Organic September has a great website has loads of information on going organic also more widely with meal ideas, fashion, and organic beauty. It also covers organic on a budget – not keeping away from issues of the cost for organic produce.

It provides easy ways to find organic foods in your supermarket or find a local independent retailer.

Organic September is a great way to give us some ideas and motivation for our own gardens and choices within our homes.

So, let’s use our green spaces to plant those veggies, fruits and plants. Using natural pest control and fertilisers can be easy. Using household pest traps like eggshells and even using old coffee grounds for plant growth.
