Think your plant will require more drainage or you want to protect your pot for a longer period. Then a planter liner would be a good way to go.
A non-woven layer within you pot will help to keep your pot protected from soil alkalinity and provide a barrier in cold months that can help to keep the pot warmer and stop it cracking.
The non-woven membrane will also allow air to reach the roots and to allow the plant to absorb the water it wants then excess to move through the membrane and out of the pot into your drainage layer at the bottom of the pot. Whilst keeping the soil in place and supporting your plant.
Planter liner tips and tricks
- When measuring up for you liner don’t forget to allow space in your planter for the drainage layer.
- Drainage layers are best using clean stone this helps with drainage.
- No woven is the membrane you need.
- No need to cut just fold your membrane for corners or round shapes. You don’t want to introduce weak points.
- Any excess? Fold back into the planter and cover with soil.
